At the Zaanse Schans, the boat ride along the Zaan River shows the cultural sights from a different perspective. During this 45 minute boat tour, enjoy breath-taking views of the Zaan skyline dotted with windmills, while you learn about the history of the Zaanse Schans and its heroes. After or prior to your boat tour, you can visit the postcard picture perfect village of Zaanse Schans. Step back in time in this village that replicates 18th and 19th century Holland as you experience the open air museum. Within 10-minutes, you can watch how a block of wood is transformed into a clog before your very eyes! You can also admire the traditional wooden houses, many of which are still lived in today.  At the shops and boutiques you will find an extensive selection of unique souvenirs and special gifts to take back home.

The Zaanse Schans is an outdoor museum and is free of charge; many of the wooden houses are lived in and cannot be visited. It is possible to visit the windmills and can be entered for a small fee. The demonstrations at the Cheese farm and Wooden Shoe factory are free of charge.

Windmill Cruises Zaanse Schans is available: Daily, from 9.30 am – 4.30 pm until (last departure), every 30 minutes.
The boat tour takes 45 minutes.
