Noordermarkt, Amsterdam, Nederland
Saturday’s at the Farmers Market

Every Saturday in the center of Amsterdam, in the Jordaan district, you can find a market with a wide range of goods on sale. The market vendors sell everything from vintage clothes to organic food and snacks. When you are looking for a souvenir or gift, this is the perfect place. At the stalls you can find antiques, books, plants, art, toys, tapestries, and much more. Most Saturday’s you can even find an oyster stall here. Does that not sound perfect? Ordering a fresh oyster and a cold glass of prosecco?

Yet, if you are not looking to buy, you can have an amazing time at the market too. Just wandering along the stalls gives you a feeling of going back in time. Only 350 years ago the famous painter Rembrandt van Rijn wandered around this market just like you will now. In other words, the Noordermarkt has been, and still is, the bustling core of the Jordaan.

What’s absolutely great about this market, is that, if you are looking for the local favorites: the Noordermarkt is definetely one of our favorites. You will not find as much tourists here, it is really sort of a hidden gem. Which is actually pretty special, because the Anne Frank House is not that far from the Noordermarkt…
