The Dutch – One of the Greatest Seafaring Nations in History

Many well-known ships where built in Holland. From here people left to discover the world. Follow the exciting history in this interactive Amsterdam Museum: The National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam, or, the ‘Scheepvaartmuseum’ (in Dutch).

A highlight of the museum is the replica of the ship ‘Amsterdam’ which was owned by the Dutch East Indian Company. Visit the ship and see how life aboard looked like. This is a beautiful decor for pictures and gives you a great view over the center of Amsterdam as well. Ahoy adventurers!
