At Museumsquare hundreds of famous paintings are housed in the three largest museums of Amsterdam. Museumsquare is situated in Amsterdam South where in 1883 the World Fair was held. After the exhibition the square was constructed and named after the in 1885 opened Rijksmuseum.
Museumsquare is one of the biggest squares in Amsterdam. It functions as a place for locals and tourists to recreate and relax. On the large field people can play soccer, frisbee, or have a picnic. Since 1999 there is a large pond, a café, and a large museum shop. If you are not a big fan of a picnic, the large terrace offers a solution. When viting the three museums in one day this is the perfect place to take a break from your cultural day and assess what you’ve seen so far.
In short, the Museumsquare offers you everything you need for an arty day!
