Eye, the city’s film museum, is situated in one of the most beautiful and impressive modern buildings in Amsterdam. You will find the museum at the bank of the IJ in the Amsterdam North district. It is really easy to reach from the central station. Just hop on one of the free ferry’s and within 10 minutes you will be on the other side of the IJ river.
Next to the EYE museum are two other new must sees in Amsterdam. The first is the A’DAM LOOKOUT, a big tower with a 365 degree view over the city. The tower also houses a club en restaurants. Certainly recommended to enjoy the view up there. The second is Amsterdam’s newest attraction: THIS IS HOLLAND. This ‘Ultimate Flight Experience’ will take you on a journey over the Netherlands, including all UNESCO sights and everything worth seeing in our little country.
So, actually, there is a little second Museum Square going on in the North side of Amsterdam!
The EYE museum offers you continuously renewed exhibitions and a restaurant. At the restaurant you can enjoy a nice meal or just a drink with a snack when it is later in the evening. The restaurant has a terrace with an amazing view over the water and the city center of Amsterdam. Besides being a film museum, Eye is also a movie theatre. A variety of films are screened here every evening. Often they are old films shown like they were originally intended, for instance on 70mm film. Yet, the cinema shows modern films here as well. In other words, a real treat for a film-lover.
The film museum that offers it all: a movie theatre, interesting exhibitions, and a restaurant.
