Amsterdam is a city of cats! Regardless of which street you walk down, canal you cross, or which museum you enter, you are bound to run into a cute and hairy creature that watches you from across the street, behind a window, or the hood of a car. This is what makes Amsterdam a great place for the cat-loving tourist. Amsterdam offers different attractions for cat-lovers. One of them is the Poezenboot, which is Dutch for Catboat.
Most cats do not like water, yet not the cats that live on the Poezenboot. This boat is a refuge for stray and abandoned felines. The (cat)houseboat floats on the picturesque Singel canal. The Poezenboot was founded in 1966 but has been adapted to meet all the requirements of a modern animal sanctuary. The Poezenboot welcomes visitors every afternoon from 13:00h till 15:00h except for Wednesdays and Sundays. If you are a cat-lover, this is one of the attractions you should definitely visit!
Lovely restaurants close to the Poezenboot are Black and Blue, De Luwte, and Chez Georges.
