Cannibale Royale; Restaurant of the Month February

Cannibale Royale; Restaurant of the Month February

Ribs at Cannibale Royale

Another month, another restaurant! Last month we enjoyed a dinner at Cannibale Royale! What is a better way to start the new year than with meat. Cannibale Royale is the open-‘til-late place for bold, finger-licking flavours cooked with absolute finesse, craft beers, and creative cocktails. Burgers, steaks, sticky ribs. Mouth-watering wings, soulful salads. While you might think that this is no place for vegetarians the menu will surprise you! There is something for everyone… even vegetarians.

Cannibale Royale

Cannibale Royale is a well-known meat restaurant with multiple locations all over Amsterdam. We’ve visited the location ‘Handboogstraat’ close to the Spui. This restaurant has a unique style unlike any other restaurant in Amsterdam. The interior resembles a western saloon which is haunted: in the dark, ominous decor you will find old still clocks, old photos of creeps and macabre dolls hanging on strings oh- and large knives with Cannibale Royale on it. This place is unique.

Our experience

We were hungry before entering Cannibale Royale and therefore went for starters, mains ánd dessert. To start the night off we ordered some nachos with cheddar and chicken. We do have to say, mistakes were made while ordering this dish but it can happen and the staff was so nice and apologetic that we didn’t even bother too much. The food was fine but we do think that there are better nachos out there in Amsterdam.

You have loads of choices for main dishes on the menu we both went for the Cannibale’s favourite ribs and these were delicious! The meat falls right off the bone and the marinade is sweet, but not too sweet. The taste, tenderness, and serving size make up for the perfect rib dish!

We finished our dinner with cheesecake! The homemade NY cheesecake was the perfect end of our dinner. The cheesecake was sweet, nicely served and just perfect altogether.

Our dinner at Cannibale Royale was great, it wasn’t necessarily cozy but it was all about the (amazing) food, the staff were nice and friendly and altogether it made up for a great night in the heart of Amsterdam.

Conclusion

Cannibale Royale is a down to earth dinner place with some of the best meat dishes in town. We wouldn’t recommend this place if you are looking for a romantic first date but other than that we would certainly recommend this place! The staff is super welcoming, down to earth and so friendly, the food is amazing and the decor is unique in Amsterdam. Making a reservation via their website is greatly advised because it can be crowded.
