Event Calender June – What’s on in Amsterdam
Summer has arrived in Amsterdam. The canals are full of boats and terraces are filled late into the evening. June also kicks off a busy festival season. Open air music festivals fill the air with grooves and theatre festivals bring a cultural explosion to the city. Find out all things to do in June in our monthly Amsterdam Welcome event calendar.
May 31st – June 2nd Magic Circus
Magic Circus suprises every year with a brand-new show and is Amsterdam’s Favourite Circus! Modern and classical circus are combined to created a unique experience that can be enjoyed by the entire family. The circus is located at the Erasmuspark, in Amsterdam-West.
June 1st – Festifest
For the sixth year the Festifest takes over the beautiful Noorderlicht site at the NDSM wharf. This is one of the smallest but coziest festivals of Amsterdam. On the water, among the greenery and only 10 minutes by ferry from Amsterdam Central Station. On Saturday 1 June they will open the festival season with everything you are used to from them: good music, good food and friends.
June 1st – June 2nd Amsterdam Open Air Festival
Amsterdam Open Air is a Dutch festival that has been held annually since 2011 in the Amsterdam Gaasperpark. On Amsterdam Open Air you can hear many different genres of music; house, urban, techno, latin, really something for everyone. That’s what makes the festival so much fun! June 7th – June 16th Bacchus Winefestival 2019
At this festival you can drink various delicious wines on two weekends in June. The beautiful Amsterdamse Bos is transformed into a fairytale paradise where beautiful lights come on at dusk. At Bacchus Wine Festival you naturally only think of wine, but there are also delicious beers available and their are many food trucks at the festival, because good wine also requires a delicious snack.
June 15th – June 16th Mystic Garden Festival 2019
Mystic Garden Festival is a paradise where time has no meaning. It is a place where people can discover the magic of an enchanted secret place! A place where life and music and creativity come together for a wonderful day! The Mystic garden festival pays a lot of attention to the decoration. There are many small stages where you can chill out and enjoy the magical atmosphere. The Mystic garden festival takes place in the Sloterpark, a beautiful park. There are many different stages including a treehouse stage, hot tubs, free massages and all kinds of other relaxing activities!
June 22th Strange Sounds from Beyond festival 2019
Want to hear strange noises? Then you have to come to the Strange Sounds From Beyond festival. This is a multi-genre alternative music festival is becoming increasingly popular. The fourth edition of the Strange Sounds From Beyond festival will be held on june 22th, but due to success, another day will be added to the programme. The Strange Sounds From Beyond festival is held in the Noorderlicht in Amsterdam-Noord. This is a covered location on the NDSM-square.
June 29th – Nomads Festival 2019
The Nomads Festival 2019 is coming back! Nomads Festival will again take place at the Riekerhaven in Amsterdam on 29 June 2019. Compared to the masses of people at Awakenings & the huge internships, there is much more intimacy at Nomads festival. From delicious summer house beats to Kris Kross hits. There is something for everyone at Nomads. Sportspark Riekerhaven is an excellent and well-known location for Festivals, so for Nomads festival the park is transformed into a party paradise. The number of stages for 2019 is not yet known. Last year there were 3 stages which created a cozy atmosphere!
June 14th – June 16th Arcitecture Day Amsterdam
During this weekend it’s all about showcasting all the new buildings of Amsterdam. You get some new ideas and you get to have a look into the future! You can find this exposition at the Architectuur Centrum Amsterdam (ARCAM).
May 1st – December 31st: Dare to Discover: A VR Journey
Want to travel thourgh time? There is a new VR- journey at The Maritime Museum (Het Scheepsvaartmuseum). Visit this exhibition for a spectacular Virtual Reality trip through time. ‘Dare to Discover A VR Journey’ takes museum visitors back in time to the Dutch Golden Age. Fly over Amsterdam’s historic harbour to witness how the busy port and city grew, see the construction and launching of a warship and stand on the quay to wave farewell to the crew of the Dutch East India Company’s ship.
Daily untill November 2nd 2019 – BITTER Chocolate Stories
More than 2 million child labourers work on cocoa plantations in Ghana and the Ivory Coast, and ten thousands of children are victims of trafficking and forced labour in cocoa production. Who are these children and why do they work there?
The bitter Chocolate Stories takes you to the cocoa plantations where you can hear their stories and the stories of their parents, the cocoa farmers and the people who are trying to put an end to child labour. This exhibition takes place at the Tropenmuseum, which is opened from Tuesday until Sunday from 10 to 5 pm.
