The cold month February is here! But also he shortest month of the year. A lot is about to happen and we don’t want you to miss anything. So let’s have a look at all the events which will take place in February!

5 February – Chinese New Year – Amsterdam

While we had our New Year’s a month ago in China they celebrate New Year’s on 5 february. It’s a major holiday where all the families come together, you eat special meals, lots of fireworks and gift giving.

In Amsterdam we celebrate the Chinese New Year as well. In the Amsterdam neighborhood ‘Nieuwmarktbuurt’ is a Buddhist temple where the New Year’s celebrating takes place. And of course the food can’t be forgotten there are many Chinese restaurants in the area.

Valentine’s day:






On 14th of February its Valentine’s day. Of course you want to spend the day with your loved one and you want to make it special but how? There are a lot of things to do in Amsterdam

Wed and Walk Marry for one day

23 February – Overwinteren Festival

Do you want to embrace the cold? Do you love the winter? Come to the Overwinteren Festival and enjoy the winter like never before! From the morning till the night you can walk through the winter market, eat warm food and drink glühwein. And a festival is not a festival without the live music, from disco hits to deep house and techno they have it all. 1 – 3 February – Mono Japan

Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy in Amsterdam welcomes for the third time Mono Japan, an ode to  and design. Mono Japan offers Japanese brands a platform to present their work in Europe. For three days Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy is a platform for design professionals.


untill 10 February YPF – Piano Concours

Talented pianists from 12 to 29 years old come to Amsterdam to perform at the Amsterdam Conservatory during the international piano competition. During ten days you can attend various concerts and recitals. On 9 and 10 February there will be a spectacular finale in the Muziekgebouw het IJ.

This Is My Story 6 February till 27 October – Bijbels Museum

Hear 12 adults talking about a difficult time in their life and how the Bible helped them to go through that time. All the 12 adults are coming from christian currents.  Photographer Cigdem Yuksel makes the stories from the 12 adults come alive through audio, video and photography. You can see Cigdem work in the Bijbels Museu in Amsterdam!

Rembrandt’s social network – Museum The Rembrandt House

Always wanted to know about more about Rembrandt’s friends, family and relationships? How they pleyed a role in his life and work? In this very special exhibition you will be one step closer to Rembrandt’s private life. You will get to see the informality of Rembrandt’s paintings which has never seen before in Holland. The exhibition consists of paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, books and documents of his friends, family and himself. The highlight of this exhibition is a personal portrait of his son Titus.

This very popular model posed in many inspiring sessions at various studios and academies in Amsterdam and beyond. Illustrators, painters and sculptors who have made studies of Thea are invited to participate in this exhibition.
