Keukenhof - Amsterdam Welcome

Check out all events, exhibitions and special festivals, taking place in March. Smell the flowers when the Keukenhof will open their doors again and you will see the beautiful Dutch countryside again with the start of the Cheese, Windmills and Dutch villages tour! This will be a beautiful month, because the weather will be slowly getting better. But before that will happen, it needs to get a little bit colder first!

5 till 21 March – National Restaurant Week

500 Restaurants, 70 Michelin Stars and 179 new stars! Special arrangements, sweet prices and the best restaurants in town!

During the National Restaurant Week, you can enjoy a fantastic 3-course dinner in one of the 500 restaurants throughout the Netherlands. Of course, this includes the city of Amsterdam! Dinner for only € 27.50 or a special 3-course lunch for only € 22.50! All selected restaurants serve a nice surprise menu that takes all dietary requirements. The National Restaurant Week started in 2007 and ever since the first edition, it has been a popular event for everyone who loves restaurants and dining.

22 March – Start Keukenhof

The Keukenhof started in 1857 as an ornamental garden for Castle Keukenhof. You can still see and visit this castle!
Smell the flowers and visit the world’s largest spring garden! Enjoy the abundance and perfume of more than 7 million bulbs in bloom! The best way to get there from Amsterdam is by Hop On Hop Off Keukenhof bus! Sit back, relax and enjoy a comfortable bus ride, while admiring the typical Dutch landscape. 24 March – Open Tower day

For the sixth time in a row, Amsterdam will organize the Open Tower day. Many historical and contemporary towers will open their doors to the public between 10:00 and 16:00 u. There are lots of different activities around the towers of Amsterdam. Join the Photo/Film contest or do the whole walk through all the different towers in the City Centre! 29 March – Start Hop On Hop Off Cheese, Windmills & Dutch Villages

This Hop On Hop Off tour through Holland’s picturesque countryside is the perfect way to explore outside the city of Amsterdam and experience the rich culture!
Depart from Amsterdam on a bus destined for the beautiful countryside. The tour includes eight stops. They all promise a unique insight into Dutch history and tradition. There are buses every 30 minutes from each stop, which provides the perfect amount of freedom to enjoy your favourite area at your own leisure!

The HISWA is the largest event in the Netherlands in the field of watersports, lifestyle and recreation, with more than 50,000 square meters of water fun!

16 March – Amsterdam Wine Festival

Wine... There is not a lot of explanation needed, is there?

This edition you will make a journey along South- Africa, Argentina and New Zealand. Taste the culture, the food and last but not least the wines from all these great countries!
All these little things will be presenting the characteristics tastes of their countries.

31 March – Seafood Festival Amsterdam

Amsterdam presents the first edition of the SeaFood Festival. The theme of this festival is; All goodies come from the sea! Discover all the different flavors; everything the sea has to offer. And of course, buy some good oysters, lobsters and mussels. Finally, there is no better drink than a good Gin and Tonic from the bar!


3 March – 12 August – Stedelijk Museum

Freedom is recognized Necessity
Works from the former Soviet republics. Reflection on the political situation, but also references to early 20th century art! This exhibition offers insight into a special aspect of the collection of the Stedelijk Museum.

8 March – 3 June – Rijksmuseum

International top art in the Rijksmuseum! From Cranch to Velázquez and from Rembrant to Manet. Four centuries of glamor by the great masters of art history.
