24H South: On the Verge of Insanity at the Van Gogh Museum
24H South is part of the events taking place this year in Amsterdam called 24H Amsterdam. It is possible to go places you would have otherwise never have visited. Last weekend 24H South was up. Part of this neighbourhood was the special event ‘On the Verge of Insanity’ (De Nacht van de Waanzin) at the Van Gogh Museum. Amsterdam was invited to this special event and tells you all about this night.
On the Verge of Insanity – De Nacht van de Waanzin
During this special event the visitor was able to find out more about the disease Van Gogh was suffering from. Questions such as ‘Why did Vincent van Gogh cut of his ear’ where answered in the guided tours through the museum where paintings told the narrative of his story. This late night event opened at 19:00 and went on till 02:00. There was a possibility to participate in the pub quiz about Vincent van Gogh, wander through the labyrinth or make a self-portrait at the art class or learn more in the guided tour along the paintings of the tortured artist.
The labyrinth let you experience what it was like to be in a state of psychosis. By means of headphones you could get different jobs and you can experience how difficult it is to keep a grip on reality. Quickly scroll down to get an impression of this special event.
Besides the event at the Van Gogh museum there was happening more during 24H South, think of late night pizza dinner, a fashion sale and a lot of kids entertainment.
Next up is 24H North on 29th October. Don’t miss the cool stuff and read about the highlights in the 24H North Blog.
