In the center of Amsterdam you will find the Leidsesquare. Here you can find a great variety of bars, clubs, theatres, and restaurants. The Leidsesquare marks the spot where once the road to Leiden (a Dutch city close to Amsterdam) started. In the 17th century this was where the horses and carriages were lined up that provided transportation from and to the city.
The square draws thousands of tourists every year. Besides daily entertainment you will find an ice skating rink in the middle of the square from Novemer until the start of the new year. In addition to the loud bars and restaurants you will find on the square, there are also a few hidden treasures. For instance, the art-deco splendor of the American Hotel. Or for the chess lovers, a chess museum at the Max Euwe Center. In short, the Leidsesquare offers a large range of activities and something for everyone.
Another square where you can enjoy a party is the Rembrandtsquare.
