Event Calendar December – What’s on

IJsbaan Ice rink Museumplein Amsterdam Welcome

Amsterdam Light Festival ( 30 November till 21 January )

Amsterdam Light Festival puts Amsterdam in the spotlight during the dark winter months. In December and January, the city sparkles with many light art installations. National and international artists have created unique works of art, most of which were made specifically for Amsterdam Light Festival. The canals of Amsterdam form the enchanting background for the festival. It’s a great way to discover the beauty of the city when your visiting Amsterdam in the cold December month.

Amsterdam Ice Village ( 20 till 30 December )

The first thing the Dutch think about when the cold winter-days are getting close, is ice skating. Nowadays, it’s not always possible to go ice skating on a frozen canal or river in the Netherlands, so we are very pleased that we can just go ice skating in the middle of the city center on Museum square! From December 20th, there will be an Amsterdam Ice Village around the complete Ice skating rink, this will give you just that tiny bit special and romantic feeling. Create a full day at the Museum Square just to combine it with a visit to one of the museums, Rijksmuseum or Van Gogh museum for example.

Amsterdam Winter Parade at RAI ( 21 December till January first )

For the first time the conference centre RAI will turn into Amsterdam’s biggest winter event ever! Get your ultimate Christmas feeling and stroll through the Christmas market, along the food stalls or go ice skating at the outdoor rink. Don’t forget to take a ride in the ferris wheel and get a magnificent view over winterwonderland Amsterdam. If you are ready to take your dance shoes out check out the Beer Village. The full program of the event and the DJs and live music acts that take place can be foundHERE!
